Newsela

Newsela.com is a website that contains a repository of world wide stories covering current events. The articles are catalogued under different headings such as: War and Peace, Science, Kids, Money, Law, Health, and Arts. 
Each report is edited and adapted to different levels of literacy. Teachers may assign the readings according to grade or reading level. There are quizzes linked to each article for students to check understanding; teacher have access to the analytics to check the performance of the students.

At Newsela.com teacher and students register for free. Teachers have the option to upgrade to the PRO version that will give them access to more specific analytics data.

Teachers create class lists, add students and assign readings. Students log into the site and find the assignments according to class.

The interface allows teachers to group articles using Pinboards, based on the Pinterest interface.

The site is accessible through Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Explorer 9+. It is also available via mobil devices using IOS, Android, Kindle, laptops, desktop and more.
